At Building Blocks, the teachers are dedicated to the academic and social development of each child. Whether they're teaching your child how to spell his/her name, or add and subtract; celebrating a birthday party; leading rehearsal for our graduation ceremony; or hosting Formal Fridays and Grandmother's Reading Sessions — our teachers are here because they love teaching and, more importantly, care about your child.

Dear Parents, thank you so much for allowing me to care for your child!  It was a lot of fun watching them grow socially, academically, and seeing them grow to be independent.  A few students have made great strides in becoming adventurous, courageous, and confident. And for that I am grateful. I have heard that the math curriculum has opened up a few mathematical minds, the phonics program has opened a love for books/reading, and the random things we do has opened the minds of shy, quiet minds. What more can I ask for!  As Tommy says quite often "This is the best day of my life!" Well I can say also that I had the best time of life with your children!  I hope you have a fun summer filled with many memory-making days. God Bless, Emma Morris

May started off with our ladybug larvae arriving! We watched them eat, crawl around and finally form pupas. Two weeks later our first ladybugs were born and we set all 12 free a few days after that! Our class really enjoyed that learning experience - me included! We had a few field trips - UMass Lowell theatre, Davis Farmland and The Whistler Museum. All were great learning experiences and fun. Thank you to the parents who helped out at Davis Farmland - you make the trip even more special! Our parade and art show was a smashing success. I'm sure you enjoyed your child's art work  and the peacock room display. Your creativity on the hats and wagons was amazing! The kids looked so cute and really enjoyed showing off!  June rocked with our Graduation Show. I think this was one of the best shows we have ever done! The kids were great and the audience really became part of the festivities! Your energy encouraged the kids and vice versa! Thank you for your enthusiasm and support!  The teacher appreciation breakfast was relaxing, pampering and scrumptious! Thank you to all who helped make that morning so special - I will never forget it! Thank you also to all my parents for such a generous gift. I promise I'll spend it wisely!  Our Dads seemed to enjoy their cookout even though it was drizzly. I know the kids really love spending special time with their dad - thanks for coming! We ended our last week with a trip to the Owl Diner for breakfast. Some of the kids had never been before and others knew the place well! I always enjoy the surprise and amusement on some of the other patrons faces when we march in. Your children were very well behaved and would have made you proud! Needless to say our food was delish!  Our final day of school ended with a splish splash pool party. The kids also blew bubbles and had slushy's to eat. A fun time was had by all!  I can't believe the year is over - I will miss everyone so much! Thank you for letting me be a part of your precious child's life - I will never forget them. Take care and have a great summer!

May and June were such busy months; I can't believe the school year is over.  We celebrated Julian, Gabrielle, Ava, Jake and Cam's birthdays - Happy Birthday to you all!  Congratulations to Julian, Ava, Gabrielle, Anthony, Alex and Lukas on their graduation - best wishes in kindergarten next Fall!  Davis Farm and the Whistler museum were both fun field trips - I think the kids enjoy the bus ride most of all.  We ended the year with our volcanoes which everyone loved exploding - have fun with them at home.  Also crazy hair/rock star day was a big hit - the craziest hair winner in MWF class goes to Ava with her BIG hair wig and Tues/Thurs winner was Jake - he was completely BLUE - everyone looked awesome - thanks for playing along!  Thank you all for a wonderful year - have a fun, safe and happy summer - please come back to visit in the Fall!

Mrs. Sykes

Greetings,  It is unbelievable, but this is our last news of the school year.  What a fast year it has been!  May & June flew by, probably because they were about as jam-packed full as possible.  We started off May with a great trip to Davis Farm.  It was a bit cool (bordering on cold) but much more comfortable and less smelly than those hot, humid days we've had there.  We managed to fit in units on caterpillars/butterflies and planting/growing amidst our Whistler art project and Graduation show practices.  Our trip to the Whistler House was fun.  A native of Lowell myself, and I had never been.  The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed a nice picnic before heading back to the bus.  As you saw, our Graduation Show was a huge success!  Your children rose to the occasion and performed like pros.  They say if dress rehearsal is shaky, the show will turn out well.  That's exactly what happened!  Kudos to the kids!  We're finishing up the year with a unit on the ocean.  I look forward to our Beach Party which is always a great time.  Our dads had a wonderful cook-out, despite the rainy conditions.  What's a little rain amongst 300 children and dads?  Let me take this opportunity to tell you how much I enjoyed having the privilege of teaching your children.  Each was special in his/her own way and it has been an honor.  Come back to visit!  Fondly, Susan Sykes
